Hera Nafees Ahmad was born and raised in India and moved to the US after marrying her husband in 2012. Hera proudly calls the United States her “home away from home” with her 3 wonderful kids (7 years, 3 and half years and 21 months old).

Hera completed her MBA while living in India, concentrating in non-profit management. She was recognized by the Mayor of the city of Hopkins, MN for bringing the city from a level 2 GreenStep City to level 3, an important state sustainability initiative in 2012.

Hera later joined CAIR—Council on American-Islamic Relations (America’s largest Muslim, grassroot, Civil Rights and advocacy organization) as a fund developer, grant writing and event planning intern. In 2014, she was nominated by CAIR-MN for the Loreal Paris “Women of Worth” award for her love for volunteering and making a difference in the community.

While living in Chicago and now Pittsburgh she has been active in fundraising and event management for local charities and libraries.

Hera found out about Kindness Grows Here when she initiated the creation of a diversity committee at her 7 years old’s school in 2020 and began looking for organizations to provide guidance and resources.

As a stress buster and hobby, Hera loves to cook various cuisines, from Indian to Mediterranean. She is thrilled to be a part of KGH as a regional rep and ready to spread the priceless gift of kindness in whatever way she can.
