Kindness Grows Here Partners with Anne Arundel County Public Library to Encourage Reading and Spread Kindness

A few months ago we were thrilled when our friends at the Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) reached out to say, "We were wondering if we could partner for our "Summer at Your Library" program. The theme this year is, "All Together Now: Kindness, Unity, Friendship." When we saw that theme, we immediately said, "YES!!"

As our founder, Kristen Caminiti said, "We are thrilled to partner with AACPL to further our mission of fostering kindness in children and spreading kindness in communities. We have worked closely with our libraries toward this mission for years and are grateful for this opportunity. We know how important reading is for the success of all children. Reading builds confidence and expands a child's world. Books are wonderful tools that help us celebrate diversity and spread kindness. We are especially thrilled to highlight the amazing work of some of our local Kid Kindness Grant winners who are truly changing the world and their community one kind act at a time. We hope everyone who learns about their work will be inspired to do the same."

Since that first e-mail, staff from AACPL and leaders from Kindness Grows Here have met numerous times to plan for an awesome Summer Reading Program. All of the details of how to participate can be found here. However, we know that we have many folks from all over the Country who can't get to Anne Arundel County Public Library to participate directly. But, we wanted to share the two main resources we put together that everyone can benefit from!

Here (you'll have to scroll down a little) you can read 13 stories of kids--who live in Anne Arundel County--who have received one of our Kid Kindness Grants. You'll be inspired by the amazing work these kids are doing and the impact they had.

You can also download the full "Let’s Celebrate Differences! A Book List" that we put together to not only encourage kids to read, but to encourage them to expand their understanding of the world and those around them.

We are so grateful to Anne Arundel County Public Library for their continued partnership and for their dedication to doing good in the world through every initiative they undertake. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful resource here in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
